This website follows one of my main interests which is to have a healthy planet in which to live. Climate change and Global warming have become a central concern of this generation as we push the limits of our planet. As the site develops the category and topic layers will become deeper and provide a repository of concerns, ideas and examples of successful projects for those seeking new business models and alternate energy systems The links menu item in the top menu has many links useful to those who are trying to develop solutions. |

carbon dioxide is making its way into our atmosphere as we burn fossil fuels and deforest tropical lands. Most experts agree that increased emissions of greenhouse gases-especially carbon dioxide-are responsible for an overall warming of our planet over the last 150 years.

The Anti-Nuclear Alliance of Western Australia has put together the facts about nuclear power. Although nuclear power does not create greenhouse gas it turns out that the cycle required to build the powerstation and mine and enrich the ore has problems. Within 40 years, nuclear power stations will be consuming more energy than they produce if industry plans for a threefold expansion are allowed. Check out their article called "Turning Up The Heat" |

Power plants are a major greenhouse gas emitter. For the most part power plants are about converting fossil fuels into electricity which produces large amounts of greenhouse gas. Governments need to focus on creating strong regulatory regulations and R&D funding to fix the problem.

TC - Feb 21/07 - The 2007 BC Budget
Environmental Programs $58 Million over 3yrs - of which 4million goes to the Climate Change Action Team to 'develop' a climate change action plan? That means nothing is actually spent to reduce greenhouse gas. Jock Finlayson, VP of the Business Counsel of BC, says that the government is juggling a lot of balls. (I would question considering their zero attention to greenhouse gas whether the government has any.)

The mountain pine beetle epidemic has created a new headache for the region.
A University of British Columbia study released by Forest Practices Board Monday warned of dire consequences by excessively harvesting beetle timber and its hydrological effects.
“This is a heads up to all of the professional community about decisions they make with respect to salvage logging,” Forest Practice Board chair Bruce Fraser said Monday.
“They have to be balanced against decisions to conserve the watershed hydrology.”
The study revealed excessive harvest had a major impact on this region’s watersheds.
The harvesting has increased the chance of flooding in the Upper Fraser, Nechako and Fraser Plateau watersheds, especially during seasons with a high snow pack.

This image of Earth’s city lights was created with data from the Defense Meteorological Satellite Program (DMSP) Operational Linescan System (OLS). Originally designed to view clouds by moonlight, the OLS is also used to map the locations of permanent lights on the Earth’s surface. How Many Lights? How much Greenhouse Gas Results?

Blowback is the rage that happens when you trick someone and then they discover they have been tricked. PM Harper has led everyone down the garden path. First he bails out his struggling minority in the polls by stealing the agenda of the progressive political parties as his own. Now Harper has done a complete turn around. We have been taken for a ride again. Not only is his new plan another hot air plan, the Tories are backing out on Kyoto and taking the stance again that it will cost too much.

ACC - Jim Wight - From the opening speeches by Gordon Campbell and John Baird to the closing ceremonies it was clear that the only solution under consideration is the hydrogen fuel cell solution.
There were many ideas, companies and technology presentations all very interesting. The general approach is to collaborate between governments, industry and the consumers in order to fast track development as fast as possible.

While, at first glance depopulation programs may seem like a good idea to promote the reduction of mouths-to-feed worldwide, what they ignore are the root causes of overpopulation. High birth rates are the direct result of poor living standards of he areas, and in countries where malnutrition has been reduced and the incidence of child-death lowered, birth rates have also lessened.

While trolling newspapers I landed Fort McMurray Today. Low and behold I find that activism is not dead in the wild west oil town. Here are two small articles showing how the Oil companies rule the land. If anyone has illusions that the Canadian or Albertan governments care a damn about the land, global warming or you...think again.
